When I was a child, I was taught to be god-fearing, obedient, and follow my family's beliefs. I emulated every quirk, saying, and ideology of my loved ones. As the years passed from elementary school to college, I realized how different I was from my family. It was isolating and lonely, as if I were a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I made this series as a form of reconciliation with my family. Most of my family will never truly understand my identity as a queer individual, and I realized that family is not always blood. We all have our own lives and ways of processing life but I still love them. Despite the disconnect, they will always be a part of me. The series is ironic because I am not very close to my family, but we are still connected by lineage and memories. These images were shot on 600 Polaroid color film, emulsions lifted, and placed on plexiglass.
